Why should the rules apply to Congress?
August 5, 2009
In another act of complete lunacy, Congress has ordered three new Gulfstream 550 jets ($65MM each for a total of $200MM) to fly congressmen around. Does this make any sense? Why do they need the Rolls Royce of jets? Why not use some of the jets that they forced GM executives to ground? Why not buy a few refurbished jets? We are in the midst of the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes – we don’t need to be buying super jets. Read more about the order on Roll Call.

Silly. Though I do prefer state owned planes to lobbyist owned planes, the ideal would be to have them riding coach with me so I can tell them what I think

Hey, they are just doing their part to stimulate the sagging General Aviation sector that the government otherwise is trying to regulate out of existence. And of course, their God give right as “special” people they need “special” modes of transportation.

It is not a slave’s place to question his masters. Just pay your taxes like a good little boy so our appointed leaders can do their important business and leave the decisions to those that know better than you.
