Obama is right on Israel. . .

Bret Stephens writes in the Wall Street Journal that “Obama is pushing Israel toward war.“ He suggests Obama’s inaction on Iran is pushing Israel to war as early as next spring. What would Bret have Obama do? Russia, a permanent member of the Security Council, has announced they will not support sanctions against Iran. This means Obama can’t use the UN to stop Iran from continued development of nuclear technology. Obama’s only option is the use of force and I am not sure ANYONE wants the U.S. to open another front in the Middle East. Bret suggests that allowing Israel to ‘go it alone’ is a mistake primarily because he believes Israel will ’screw up’ the attack. While the U.S. military is quite good at killing people and breaking things (i.e. the purpose of the military despite Congress’ idea that it is somehow a peacekeeping force), I am sure the Israelis understand their enemy and have a very good idea how to kill them. Relax Bret, Israel will take care of the Iranians this time – we have enough on our plate right now.
